About the Artist
I have loved art all my life. I focused on graphic art at Santa Barbara City College and worked as a graphic artist for many years. In 2002, I attended California State University at Channel Islands and received a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art.
Since then I have been painting, showing my artwork in many venues and teaching art. I have taught visual art in various schools from kindergarten through high school. I am totally enthused by teaching students to develop their artistic skills and express themselves creatively.
My own artistic journey has been no less rewarding. I paint what I see around me. I take an extensive amount of photographs as references for my paintings, from the familiar scenes I grew up with in California, as well as throughout all my travels. Landscape is everywhere around us, and the challenge is to use the elements of art to bring what we see and feel onto a canvas, making it as aesthetically pleasing and painterly as possible.
My focus of art is painting landscapes with oil, abstracts with acrylic and have done several series of mixed media/collage.
